about

Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose
tracks recorded ca. 1989-1991 using a 4-track cassette recorder

Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose (my second LP) continued experiments begun on Daisy Hawkins, this time incorporating more keyboards (including a Casio) and an occasional toy piano. An effects rack was used on a few tracks, most prominently “Laughing Gas.” Thomas Perkinson added synthesizer to the second half of “Le Rouge et le Noir.” The album cover is a reproduction of John Singer Sargent’s 1885 oil painting “Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose” (public domain).
